The unique welding backup flux for better, faster, easier, lower cost welds in stainless steel and high nickel alloys, SOLAR FLUX is a complex chemical compound in the form of a very fine powder. When mixed with alcohol (methanol/methyl alcohol preferred) and brushed on the back of the weld joint, SOLAR FLUX is formulated to shield the BACK of the weld joint from oxygen, dissipate heat and unwanted oxides, and clean the surface of the metal. SOLAR FLUX aids in the flow of filler metal over base metal and forms a protective barrier to prevent re-oxidation and heat scale.

Solar Flux Type B

For welding all steels, especially stainless steels, except high nickel alloys.

Solar Flux Type I

For welding high nickel alloys (those containing at least 25% nickel).

Note: The type of Solar Flux needed is determined by the nickel content of the base metal only.  With limited exceptions, see Application Chart below, the welding method used will not be a factor in determining the correct Solar Flux type for the project.

Choosing the right Solar Flux for your job

In cases where two choices are listed below, the type of Solar Flux listed first is preferable.
